Legal 500 – celebrating 125 years of success

Blocks Solicitors continue to enjoy a wonderful 2008. This year the Firm celebrated its 125 year anniversary and recorded its highest growth for the financial year 2007/2008. Now, the Legal 500, has again confirmed Blocks’ position amongst the leading firms in East Anglia and specifically Felixstowe and Ipswich.
The Firm enjoyed 13 mentions in 11 different areas of law. The Firm’s focus on commercial, corporate, commercial property and dispute resolution work is recognised together with its continuing commitment to its established areas of practice in agricultural and farming, family law including cohabitation, divorce and ancillary relief, childcare, personal tax, trusts and probate.
Blocks were specifically recognised by the Legal 500 for its expertise in agriculture and estates, corporate and commercial work, commercial litigation, commercial property, debt recovery, employment, family, licensing, personal tax, property litigation, trusts and probate, and housing association work.
Specifically in Ipswich, the firm was described as ‘a supportive business partner in commercial and corporate matters’.
Blocks’ handling of employment law matters was described as being with ‘integrity – more precious than gold dust’ and where ‘professionalism trickles down from the top’. The growth of Blocks employment team was also noted.
Commercial, corporate and property partner Andrew Fleming was described as being ‘sought after’ and as a lawyer that does ‘make an effort to see the matter from a client’s perspective’.
Property partner, Kate Threlfall, had £22m worth of property deals that she acted on and her growing practice in acting for general practitioners in new surgery developments in partnership with Primary Care Trusts was singled out for special mention.
Commercial litigation partner Graham Mead was described as well respected and experienced.
In agriculture and estates, managing partner Gerry Field, was praised as being ‘highly regarded in Suffolk for partnership structuring, single farm payment work, tenancy advice, reviews of tribunal settlements and major land acquisitions’. His role in the firm’s strong reputation in housing association work was confirmed.
Michael Sheehan was praised for his childcare work.
Howard Wright was ‘highly recommended for his commercial, corporate and property work’.
