Outside work Alice is kept busy with her young son, renovating their Victorian home and walking in the countryside with her rescue dogs.

Andrew heads up our Business and Commercial Team. Andrew enjoys assisting clients with strategic acquisitions and successful sales and exits. When advising clients he believes in taking a holistic approach and providing down to earth sound commercial advice.
Andrew is a trusted adviser to many long established clients and also acts for a national lender in their security work.
Outside work Andrew is very involved with his large busy family and is very active in his local community. He likes nothing more however than escaping to his beloved Southern Ireland for some well deserved peace and quiet.

Ed is a commercially minded and solution-driven Commercial Lawyer and Associate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
Ed joined Blocks in May 2018 and brings with him over five years’ experience working in a commercial, in-house setting where he specialised in commercial contracts, procurement law, intellectual property, out-sourcing, data protection and commercial employment matters.
In addition, Ed has a broad understanding of the utility industry and has advised on matters ranging from civil engineering framework contracts to multi-million-pound joint ventures, outsourcing projects and district heat contracts.
Ed will provide you with sound commercial legal advice and believes in a strategic approach to issues in order to arrive at the desired commercial destination.
Outside work Ed enjoys nothing more than a real ale or a good glass of red wine and a long walk in the country with his very enthusiastic chocolate lab Phoebe. Rumour has it that we have a very talented musician in our midst, hopefully, we might have a sneak preview soon.
Frances Barker - Partner

Frances heads up our Employment Team. When advising her clients she is likely to take a practical and straightforward approach to help achieve the best outcome possible. Whether you need advice on a contract or a dispute, a grievance or a settlement agreement, Frances can assist and advise to ensure you fully understand the options available to you.
Frances qualified as a Solicitor in 1987. She has experience in a wide variety of environments including a range of private businesses, the City of London, education, the health service and local government. Outside work Frances is a Mum to four grown up girls, loves baking and is very active and supportive in her local community.
Georgina Hawkes - Conveyancing Executive

Georgina is a Conveyancing Executive at Blocks and deals with all areas of residential conveyancing.
Originally from Cambridge, Georgina has spent the last 40 years in the legal profession working for several of the Legal 500 Solicitors in her home town.
During this time she achieved accreditations from the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, Council for Licensed Conveyancers together with a Post Graduate Degree in Business Administration.
After being a locum for several years in East Anglia and the Midlands Georgina has settled here in Ipswich enjoying the friendly but professional approach from Blocks.
Georgina likes all types of sport, provided she can sit in her armchair. She has however been spotted on several racecourses throughout the country.

Gerry heads up our Agricultural Team. Gerry has spent more years than he cares to remember advising Farms, Landowners and Rural Business on all aspects of sales and purchases, finances, diversification, renewable energy and rural developments.
When advising his clients on all aspects of succession planning, he is able to help them look at the big picture and offer strategic advice.
Outside of work Gerry is an avid walker often taking on the fells and mountains of the Lake District and Scotland, he is actively involved in his local community and village charitable activities and likes nothing more than relaxing with a good history book.

John Simpson - Family Lawyer & Mediator

John is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. He is a Collaborative Family Lawyer, Mediator and a Resolution Accredited Specialist in Private Law Children and Complex Financial Remedies. John has over 30 years’ experience in matrimonial and family law gained in North London and Suffolk.
John deals with divorce and relationship breakdown, he also deals with financial and property issues between married and cohabiting couples as well as claims for beneficial interests in property and applications to vary nuptial settlements. John also deals with applications for non-molestation orders and occupation orders under the Family Law Act 1996. John’s reported cases include Newlon Housing Trust v Alsulaimen (1999) AC 313, Re: G (Children) (2005) EWCA Civ 1283 and Re S (A Child) (Effect of long-term supervised contact on welfare) (2015) EWCACiv 689.

Outside work Lorna has a busy family life and enjoys nothing more than tending to her enviable garden and her menagerie of ducks, chickens, cats and rabbits.
Louise Godfrey - Head of Residential Conveyancing

Louise joined Blocks in April 2019 and heads up the Residential Conveyancing team.
Louise is a dual qualified Licensed Conveyancer and advises on conveyancing and wills, tax and probate matters. Louise specialises in property work with a mixed case load of residential and developer work and has over 15 years’ experience in this area.
Prior to joining Blocks, Louise spent 8 years working in the Bury St Edmunds area which has strengthened her knowledge of countryside locations, development sites and the unique eccentricities they all possess. Louise’s practical straight forward approach to conveyancing enables her to provide a professional and efficient service at an affordable fixed fee cost.
Outside of work Louise is married with a young Daughter and spends what free time she has cycling, walking and travelling.
Owen Thomas - Head of Private Client

Owen is the head of the Private Client Department.
He is a solicitor with over seventeen years experience specialising in a full range of private client work. Owen`s legal experience is widespread having also studied in The Netherlands, worked in Germany and obtained a Masters in Law.
Owen knows providing a caring and effective advice is important during difficult times for a family.
Away from work Owen supports a number of unremittingly mediocre sports teams and enjoys travelling to South east Asia when he can.
